Romans 12:9-10

My mom always insisted that the best marriages are not 50-50 relationships, but 75-75, so that there’s always an overlap in self-giving. Maybe that’s true for all relationships that reflect the One who has given his whole self to us.

Generous God, help us to resist the urge to give only as we are given—or worse, to see just how much we can get for how little. Help us outdo one another in honour. We pray in the name of the One who humbled himself for our sakes. Amen
