“But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, ‘You are my God.’ My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors. Let your face shine upon your servant; save me in your steadfast love.”
Psalm 31:14-16

Trust in God requires our surrender: Confessing that God is God means that we are wholly reliant on God. The psalmist’s prayer is for God’s deliverance and favour and love, not because God is withholding it but because the psalmist knows that God will provide it. We give thanks and praise for God’s steadfastness, our constant, consistent companion.

Steadfast God, we rely on You in hardship and in delight; we trust You with our days, our relationships, our selves. We call out to You, praying in Jesus’ name, and You answer us in love. Amen
